Join us for the first session of A Guide to Speaking Practical Thai, a 12-week course designed to give you the resources and guidance to speak Thai. In this course, you will:

• Learn essential words and phrases for ordering food, asking for directions, shopping and more.
• Be introduced to and practice vocabulary, basic sentence structure and colloquial use grammar.
• Gain pronunciation confidence with dedicated lessons on unique Thai sounds and tones.
• Immerse yourself in Thai culture through insights into etiquette, traditions, and social norms.

Course 1: Essential Communication:

• Lessons 1-2: Basic Numbers, greetings & question particles.
• Lessons 3-4: Nouns, verbs, adjectives & classifiers
• Lessons 5-6: Compound Verbs & Ordering food & drinks
• Lessons 7-8: Navigating transportation, & common locations
• Lessons 9-10: Shopping, bargaining, & simple time related terms.
• Lessons 11-12: Clock time, dates, days & months of the year.

Course 2: Expanded Communication

• Lessons 1-2: Describing appearances & personality traits.
• Lessons 3-4: Expressing feelings, describing food & cultural experience
• Lessons 5-6: Discussing family, friends & social interactions.
• Lessons 7-8: Essential body parts, healthcare, diet & exercise
• Lessons 9-10: Describing places, handling invitations & preferences.

Course Structure:

• In each session we’ll practice relevant vocabulary to equip you with skills for real-world use.
• Designed for pro-active learners, it provides manageable chunks of info to keep you engaged.
• Study files provided in advance contain vocabulary, example uses & self-study challenges.
• During each session, practice what you learn through interactive exercises & role-playing scenarios.
• Session recordings will be available for additional practice and/or missed sessions.
• Communicate with the community via LINE Group for assistance outside of live sessions.

With commitment and consistent study, you’ll be able to:

• Confidently converse in basic Thai in simple everyday situations.
• Order food and drinks, ask for directions, and navigate public transportation.
• Shop at markets and stores, bargain for souvenirs, and complete basic transactions.
• Be able to comprehend and correctly use colloquial Thai phrases and essential vocabulary.
• Feel more empowered to explore Thailand and connect with its friendly people.

Instructor: Ron Weaver is a former court translator who began learning Thai language with a private tutor in 2003. He began teaching native English speakers in 2012 and is well known for his ability to speak and teach colloquial Thai as demonstrated in content published on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
